BREAKING THE ICE WITH RYAN WORTHINGTON

We recently collaborated with the super talented Ryan Worthington on our latest Valentines shoot. Ryan is passionate about drinks photography and did a great job on our shoot. In this segment you can get to know a little more about the man behind the camera:

- What do you enjoy most about what you do?

I love the fact that I get to assist brands in finding their niche style and helping them stand out within emerging markets. It allows me to not only make great connections, but also to try never before seen, rare spirits that I’d never get the chance to try if this wasn’t my passion.

 - If you were a cocktail, what you would be and why?

Without a doubt an old fashioned, but with a scotch alternative twist (Don’t judge me, they are incredible). I love the idea of suiting up, lighting up a cigar and socialising with a nice old fashioned to hand. Its always my go to cocktail, and my large whisk(e)y collection has allowed me to mix and match with many different brands.

- What was your last 'normal' job?

Alongside photography, I do actually work full time as a ‘Product Engineer’. This is my full time job and involves me working on projects directly under the UK Ministry of Defence.

- What is the best bar you've been to?

It was bar called ‘The Lochside hotel’ directly next to the Bowmore distillery on Islay. Prior to my photography days, this was my first whisky distillery trip and I found this small bar with hundreds of rare whiskies. Its definitely the place I fell in love with whisky and the amount of variation on the market.

- What advice would you give your younger self?

Seriously don’t worry about your number of followers. When I began my part time business, I was obsessing over followers, likes, the normal things people look at. However, the more and more I have progressed, the more I wish I never let it bother me. I create thousands of images that I love, and I think that’s the main thing that matters. At the end of the day, photography is for enjoyment and if people enjoy it and want to follow along, then that’s an honourable bonus
